Pada zaman modern ini pembangunan baik perumahan,perkantoran,hotel, maupun swalayan memiliki lantai bertingkat untuk menambahkan kapasitas dari fungsi bangunan tersebut,bahkan saat ini banyak sekali perkantoran,hotel yang memiliki jumlah lantai yang sangat banyak.dari sinilah akhirnya manusia memiliki idea untuk mendesign suatu alat transportasi yang berfungsi sebagai penghubung antara satu lantai ke lantai lainya.
Pada awalnya transportasi penghubung ini memiliki kebutuhan yang sangat sederhana dan juga sangat vital, yakni keamanan, konstruksi ini dibutuhkan suatu design yang kuat dan mampu menahan beban para penggunanya,selain itu diharapkan juga tidak licin sehingga pengguna tidak jatuh terpeleset,sehingga pada waktu itu diciptakanlah tangga. Tangga merupakan alat konstruksi yang menghubungkan dua lantai. Tangga memiliki anak tangga yang tingginya sama, pembuatan anak tangga ini dimaksudkan agar pengguna dapat mudah naik ke lantai atas, namun tangga masih sangat minimum keamananya, jika tangga ini terkena air dapat licin dan sangat membahayakan,selain itu tangga membutuhkan banyak energy bagi penggunanya untuk naik atau turun dari suatu lantai ke lantai lainya.
Eskalator adalah salah satu transportasi vertikal berupa konveyor untuk mengangkut orang, yang terdiri dari tangga terpisah yang dapat bergerak ke atas dan ke bawah mengikuti jalur yang berupa rail atau rantai yang digerakkan oleh motor.Karena digerakkan oleh motor listrik , tangga berjalan ini dirancang untuk mengangkut orang dari bawah ke atas atau sebaliknya. Tangga escalator ini memiliki banyak kelebihan dibandingkan dengan tangga,selain dapat membuat nyaman para pengguna,keamanan pada tangga escalator pun lebih terjamin. Karena tangga escalator di design dengan motif yang karas sehingga memperbesar gaya gesek, walaupun tangga escalator basah,tangga ini akan tetap aman.
Kebutuhan manusia berkembang tidak hanya keamanan,kenyamanan tapi juga kecepatan,dizaman modern ini banyak sekali perkantoran,hotel dll yang sampai memiliki jumlah lantai sangat banyak,sehingga tidaklah efisien menggunakan tangga escalator karena akan memakan banyak waktu dan juga energy, sehingga manusia membuat alat baru yakni lift. Lift adalah angkutan transportasi vertikal yang digunakan untuk mengangkut orang atau barang. Lift umumnya digunakan di gedung-gedung bertingkat banyak,biasanya lebih dari tiga atau empat lantai. Gedung-gedung yang lebih rendah biasanya hanya mempunyai tangga atau eskalator. Lift-lift pada zaman modern mempunyai tombol-tombol yang dapat dipilih penumpangnya sesuai lantai tujuan mereka, Terdapat tiga jenis mesin, yaitu Hidraulik, Traxon atau katrol tetap, dan Hoist atau katrol ganda, Jenis hoist dapat dibagi lagi menjadi dua bagian, yaitu hoist dorong dan hoist tarik.
Kesimpulan :
1)Mencari pengembangan suatu produk : pengembangan alat transportasi lantai bertingkat pada bangunan, yakni tangga,elevator, lift
2)Apa yang dikembangkan :
Tangga dikembangkan menjadi escalator : tangga yang tadinya hanya sebagai penghubung kini dikembangkan menjadi escalator yang tidak hanya menghubungkan tetapi juga mentransportasikan, menggunakan design yang sangat jauh berbeda, pada escalator menggunakan motor listrik yang mana pergerakan jalurnya menggunakan rail atau rantai.
Escalator dikembangkan menjadi lift : terjadi perkembangan yang sangat luar biasa yang tadinya escalator berjalan lambat dan kecepatan terbatas kini mampu dikembangkan menjadi lift yang daya angkutnya sangat cepat, sehingga lebih menghemat waktu. Pada lift terdapat tiga macam mesin penggerak yaitu hidrolik, traxson dan hoist

Karat adalah lapisan yang terbentuk setelah senyawa besi bereaksi dengan air dan oksigen. Ini merupakan campuran antara oksida besi dan oksida air.
Rumus persamaannya adalah sebagai berikut:

Rumus ini seringkali ditulis dalam bentuk CH3-COOH, CH3COOH, atau CH3CO2H. Asam asetat murni (disebut asam asetat glasial) adalah cairan higroskopis tak berwarna, dan memiliki titik beku 16.7°C.
Sifat kimia asam asetat
Keasaman
Atom hidrogen (H) pada gugus karboksil (−COOH) dalam asam karboksilat seperti asam asetat dapat dilepaskan sebagai ion H+ (proton), sehingga memberikan sifat asam. Asam asetat adalah asam lemah monoprotik dengan nilai pKa=4.8. Basa konjugasinya adalah asetat (CH3COO−). Sebuah larutan 1.0 M asam asetat (kira-kira sama dengan konsentrasi pada cuka rumah) memiliki pH sekitar 2.4.
Sebagai Pelarut
Asam asetat cair adalah pelarut protik hidrofilik (polar), mirip seperti air dan etanol. Asam asetat memiliki konstanta dielektrik yang sedang yaitu 6.2, sehingga ia bisa melarutkan baik senyawa polar seperi garam anorganik dan gula maupun senyawa non-polar seperti minyak dan unsur-unsur seperti sulfur dan iodin. Asam asetat bercambur dengan mudah dengan pelarut polar atau nonpolar lainnya seperti air, kloroform dan heksana. Sifat kelarutan dan kemudahan bercampur dari asam asetat ini membuatnya digunakan secara luas dalam industri kimia.
Reaksi-reaksi kimia
Asam asetat bersifat korosif terhadap banyak logam seperti besi, magnesium, dan seng, membentuk gas hidrogen dan garam-garam asetat (disebut logam asetat). Logam asetat juga dapat diperoleh dengan reaksi asam asetat dengan suatu basa yang cocok. Contoh yang terkenal adalah reaksi soda kue (Natrium bikarbonat) bereaksi dengan cuka. Hapir semua garam asetat larut dengan baik dalam air. Salah satu pengecualian adalah kromium (II) asetat. Contoh reaksi pembentukan garam asetat:
Mg(s) + 2 CH3COOH(aq) → (CH3COO)2Mg(aq) + H2(g)
NaHCO3(s) + CH3COOH(aq) → CH3COONa(aq) + CO2(g) + H2O(l)
Aluminium merupakan logam yang tahan terhadap korosi karena dapat membentuk lapisan aluminium oksida yang melindungi permukaannya. Karena itu, biasanya asam asetat diangkut dengan tangki-tangki aluminium.
Dua reaksi organik tipikal dari asam asetat
Asam asetat mengalami reaksi-reaksi asam karboksilat, misalnya menghasilkan garam asetat bila bereaksi dengan alkali, menghasilkan logam etanoat bila bereaksi dengan logam, dan menghasilkan logam etanoat, air dan karbondioksida bila bereaksi dengan garam karbonat atau bikarbonat. Reaksi organik yang paling terkenal dari asam asetat adalah pembentukan etanol melalui reduksi, pembentukan turunan asam karboksilat seperti asetil klorida atau anhidrida asetat melalui substitusi nukleofilik. Anhidrida asetat dibentuk melalui kondensasi dua molekul asam asetat. Ester dari asam asetat dapat diperoleh melalui reaksi esterifikasi Fischer, dan juga pembentukan amida. Pada suhu 440 °C, asam asetat terurai menjadi metana dan karbon dioksida, atau ketena dan air.
Reaksi antara cuka dan besi berkarat
Salah satu penghilang karat yang baik adalah cuka, cuka dapat menghilangkan karat dan memberikan efek mengkilat pada logam, tapi mengapa cuka merupakan zat yang baik untuk menghilangkan karat??bagaimana proses kimia atau reaksi kimia sehingga cuka dapat menghilngkan karat??
Cuka atau asam asetat memiliki molekul CH3COOH yang bereaksi dengan besi berkarat FeOOH :
3CH3COOH + FeOOH --> Fe(CH3COO)3 + 2H2O
dan besi (III) asetat Fe(CH3COO)3 merupakan garam asetat yang larut dalam air.
Fe(CH3COO)3 + 2H2O -- Fe(s) + 3CH3COOH + ½ H2
Apa yang terjadi pada besi jika di rendam dalam waktu yang lama??
Permukaan besi yang sudah tidak berkarat akan bereaksi kembali dengan asam asetat, dengan persamaan reaksi:
Fe (s) + 3 CH3COOH(aq) → Fe(CH3COO)3(aq) + 1 ½ H2(g)
Kesimpulan :
asam cuka merupakan zat yang bersifat korosif terhadap banyak logam, membentuk gas hydrogen dan garam-garam asetat. Garam asetat yang dihasilkan mudah larut dalam air sehingga terjadi pengikisan. Selanjutnya terjadi kembali pembentukan garam asetat yang kemudian terkikis kembali. Proses ini terus berulang sehingga dalam jangka waktu yang lama logam melarut dalam air.

Tentu akan lebih ideal bila ketulusan yang selembut merpati itu diimbangi dengan
kecerdikan seekor ular. Dengan begitu, ketulusan tidak menjadi keluguan yang bisa
